May 14 2024 Policy Committee Meeting 8 : 00 AM - 9 : 00 AM Pursuant to School Board Policy 2:150, the Board of Education may establish committees to assist with the Board's governance function and, in some situations, to comply with state law requirements. Each committee reports directly to the Board of Education. Committee members may include both Board Members and non-Board Members depending on the committee's purpose. Committee appointments are made at the organization meeting of the Board that is held following the consolidated election in April of odd numbered years. Committee meetings are typically held once per month. The purpose of the Policy Committee is to review existing policies, recommend changes where necessary, and propose new policies for consideration by the Board. May 14 2024 Open House: Culinary Arts Lab 6 : 00 PM - 8 : 00 PM Please join Barrington 220 and the Barrington 220 Educational Foundation for an open house inside the new culinary arts lab at Barrington High School! The new space was made possible by the $147 million referendum that Barrington area voters approved in March 2020. The Educational Foundation granted the district $111,000 to fund equipment, supplies, and other materials to develop a BHS Culinary Internship Program. The program will teach students professional culinary skills and techniques such as proper knife use, food safety, menu planning, cooking techniques, and more. Students will also learn about front-of-the-house operations like staffing, hospitality management, the economics of food, and marketing. May 20 2024 Referendum Advisory Committee Meeting #3 6 : 00 PM - 8 : 00 PM LOCATION: BHS Front Atrium (Lower Level) The Barrington 220 Board of Education's 2024 Referendum Advisory Committee will assist the Board in identifying key components to be included in a referendum question proposed for the November 5, 2024 election ballot. The 2024 Referendum Advisory Committee will make a final recommendation to the Board of Education by the June 4, 2024 Board of Education meeting. The final decision of what will be asked on a potential referendum question rests with the Board. If the Board decides to place a referendum question on the November 2024 ballot, it must approve the question in August 2024. The committee consists of approximately 60 members representing all district attendance areas and grade levels, as well as members of local Barrington community organizations. Meetings are open to the public, however, only committee members may participate and vote. May 21 2024 Board of Education Meeting 6 : 30 PM - 9 : 30 PM All regular Board of Education meetings are held on Tuesday evenings, beginning with a Closed Session at 5:30 p.m., immediately followed by Open Session at 6:30 p.m. Unless otherwise noted, the meetings will take place at the District Administrative Center, 515 West Main Street, Barrington, Illinois. May 22 2024 Innovation Showcase at BHS 5 : 00 PM - 6 : 00 PM Join Barrington 220 and the Barrington 220 Educational Foundation at the annual Innovation Showcase at Barrington High School on May 22 from 5pm-6pm! BHS students enrolled in Career Technical Education (CTE) courses will feature their portfolios, and attendees will learn more about the innovative spaces and career programs at BHS. Following the showcase, head to the BHS auditorium, where the 11th annual Business INCubator Pitch Night will begin at 6pm. Student groups will pitch their companies to investors during a "Shark Tank"-style presentation. Believed to be the first of its kind in the nation, the Business INCubator program was started at Barrington High School during the 2013-14 school year. Since the program's inception, it has grown nationally and internationally.
